Our Response to the Climate Emergency

We have one world, it is our job to protect it

We all need to change to address the Climate Emergency

Macclesfield Labour Party believe that we are all responsible to deal with the changes needed to halt Climate Change.  We are spearheading the Labour Party Agenda on the Climate Change Emergency, right here, right now in Cheshire East

Our response to the Climate Emergency

The climate emergency is the biggest challenge to ever face humanity.  We must act now to stop a climate emergency from becoming a climate catastrophe.

Investing in our environment is investing in our future.

Macclesfield has so much potential to lead a new green economy but instead under Tory mismanagement has missed out on so many opportunities, whilst seeing services and amenities cut or privatised.

Looking after our environment goes hand in hand with building a better society for everyone. In Britain we are seeing our country’s economy stalling, due to nearly a decade of under-investment.

Neil’s promise to the people of Macclesfield

“There are local people, community groups, local business people, charities, faith groups with the ideas, the initiatives, and love of where we live to transform our area.

With community gardens, food waste schemes, bus schemes, repair cafes, object libraries, playing out events.

People committed to making Macclesfield a better place to live; where we are all healthier, happier and well-off.

Add to that we have many councillors from a newly elected Labour-led town council and Cheshire East, buzzing with potential policies and ways to make greener.

From micro-investments: like green bins and  planting a forest for the future, to investment in better housing and transport and green jobs. All ready to kickstart a green revolution.

We are certainly facing a global crisis, and we need our national leaders to act now to help face what could become a global catastrophe if we don’t act soon.

But I am proud to be part of a Labour Party that listens. we go to where people are to find out what needs to happen. – to see people’s realities and experiences.

I’m proud that Macclesfield has shown that we are the catalyst for change. I hope we can inspire the new local Labour government and future national government to make great green policies”
